Egg- laying hens are suffering in battery cages due to ignorance. Many communities believe that having egg-laying hens in battery cages improves egg production. However, this misconception has turned differently after our awareness program on animal welfare standards. Today we contiuned educating community leaders who included farmers, veterinary officers, agricultural extension officers about the cruelty of battery cage system. What is encouraging is that the leaders are willing to adopt to a free range system to reduce the suffering of animals. All they need now is the fence to start free range system and encourage other small scale- farmers to join. Thank you @ Professor Russ Mead for the paintings.
